Welcome

I am a professor of statistics in the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science at the University of Waterloo. I was born in 1963 and grew up in the small WU village in the Province of Anhui, China, and was among the fortunate group of students entering university in 1978. I held a full-time teaching position at Anhui Institute of Education (now Hefei Normal University) (1982-1994) prior to my doctoral studies at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia. I joined University of Waterloo in 1999, with my first office in Mathematics and Computer (MC, left), and moved through the bridge (middle) to Mathematics 3 (M3, right) in 2010.

If you teach, research or study survey sampling or conduct surveys in practice, check out my book with Mary Thompson, Sampling Theory and Practice.
